Ok, not really. Just thought I'd use something catchy to get your attention. But now that I've got it...
Violet likes to sit out in the front yard with us in the evenings. It has been very hot lately, but we sit in the shade of the house once it has cooled off a bit.
We don't have any pictures to prove it, but Violet is also pulling herself up to standing lately. She loves it! She isn't walking just yet, but is working on it. And she isn't officially crawling yet, but she has almost mastered the "army crawl". We should have pictures and/or video proof of this soon.
And we should also have video proof before long of Violet's other new talents: buzzing her lips (she absolutely loves doing this) and trying to say "cat" and "dog". How could we have not guessed that her first words would not be "momma" or "daddy", but instead "dog", "cat", and "horse"?
Oh yes, and our dedication to working on baby sign language seems to be starting to pay off. Violet now responds to the signs for "more", "food", "milk", and "cat". She is starting to use the sign for "more" on her own, too!

Just so everyone out there knows that your first word was "baaa". Not just making a sound but identifying with an orphan lamb that I was bottle feeding in the kitchen.
The lamb was in a box next to Joanna's high chair and would be hungry and noisy the same time in the morning that Joanna was in the kitchen. Her first word was sitting in her high chair looking down at them lamb then up at me "baaa".
Sign language is super! Etta has a ton of signs that she uses. Just yesterday she "said" that she wanted to go swimming. And she "asked" for cheese with her dinner. I think that it is a major contribution to how laid back and happy she is. Way to go!!
Hi Emily! I've seen some of your FB updates and noticed that Etta was doing sign language - that's awesome! It is so exciting when it actually starts to sink in and then they start to both understand it and use it themselves:-)
And congratulations on the marathon!
We have watched this so many times, we never get tired of it-thanks for the post. We feel like we are there watching.
We love you.
