Catching Up

I'm short on stamina, concentration, and time tonight so this will be a short post, but it will hopefully fulfill everyone's need for Violet pics and news. First of all, we had an nice dinner out on the back patio with Maegan and Ryan a week or so ago. One of the very few days that it was both warm, dry, and calm (lack of wind) enough that we could enjoy the patio.

Speaking of warm, dry, and calm, the norm has been the lack thereof. But it has supplied us with some spectacular sunsets and rainbows lately.

Violet has been talking a lot these days, and we can decipher a few words now, like "ball" and "no" (or more appropriately, "No!"), as well as the old-hat "ma-ma" and "da-da". And she is picking up new signs like wildfire. Seriously, she is imitating new signs the first time she sees them, and if she can't get her hands and fingers to do exactly the right thing, she'll try and try and try to get it correct. She is amazing.

And probably of particular interest to my Mom, Vi has started carrying around her baby doll with a cloth diaper she pinched from the diaper changing table. Sometimes the diaper seems to be a blanket, but mostly it is actually a diaper for the doll (albeit quite a large one!) And you may notice the fat lip and scrapes she's got on her upper lip and cheek. Chalk that injury up to a soccer accident on the front porch. Vi just couldn't seem to keep her feet underneath her and her body upright. And that lead to a face-plant:-(

Here is a stray picture from the bike race in Spokane. Violet was getting tired and decided that her lawn chair was a good place to lay down (sort of) with her Kora Dog and Orange Kitty.

Love how they are little mommy's to their baby dolls! If you are interested... I have a bunch of leftover newborn size diapers that work well on baby dolls. I saved them specifically for this purpose. I can send some your way for Vi to play with!

That would be great! All of our cloth diapers are either A) still in use (so they aren't for playing with), or B) far too large for a baby doll, as you can see:-)

great pics of the sunset and rainbow! Vi as always makes any picture a keeper. Looks like she might be due for a hair trim or are you planning to let it go long? It's nice to hear that signing gets easier as Ben is still at "more" and thinks it means "cracker" cause that's what we were giving him more of!

Sorry you had a boo boo Vi. If I had those shoes staring up at me I may be distracted and trip too :-)
Amazing atmospheric event photos!

I (we) are so happy to see pictures of Vi with the doll, we thought she would like it. The picture of Vi and the butterfly chair are wonderful, almost makes me cry. Phylis would have really loved to see that picture. She thought Violet was really special. Thanks so much for posting the pictures, you know we love them so much. We love all of you.
