Tummy time

For those of you who don't know, "tummy time" is like Tae-bo for infants. You put the critter on their stomach and they worm around and gain strength in their arms, legs, abs, neck, back, etc. Violet is no fan of tummy time. The first 90 seconds or so are fairly pleasant as she looks around and takes in the change in coordinate system.

The looking around then over the course of two or three minutes transitions to squirming and noisemaking. It's hard to tell from this pic, but she's definitely not happy. Last week she had one day where she had figured out how to roll over from her front to back on both left and right sides. One day. She hasn't done it since. You can be sure that once she does it reliably we'll brag all about it.

Then she gets pissed. A red face, a very discouraged or sad look that ends up with her putting her head down and licking the tummy time mat.

Who knows, maybe licking the carpet is really where it's at? In fact, carpet licking is part of her bedtime routine. After tummy time she either gets a diaper change and/or a bath, a change of clothes, a quick feeding and then off to bed. So after her workout she hits the shower, gets a protein drink and recovers. She's ready for the big leagues.

Here's Violet telling us about a very interesting dream she had that night.

Violet is the cutest baby EVER, just a little cuter than Joanna was ;-] BUT not too much. Don't know what Mike looked like as a baby but he must have compliamented Joanna's genes for looks!
